Laura A. - I use a stapler. ;) Levenger.com has some really nice leather weights that you could use too. Neither knitting or reading goes very quickly, but both leaves you feeling a little more accomplished!

Cara - I love the pictures on your site! I must admit, I'm not a big fan of Amazon. I work at and Independent Bookstore that deserves my money more than the big box. Having said that, it's difficult to not take advantage of the occational cheap-ass book!

Jay - Good to know...I put it down and am off to read something a bit more light-hearted.

Thanks for the list of bests - I always like to read those lists. I have Philip Roth on my shelf waiting for me. Not sure what your discount is, but I got it really cheap and new on Amazon. (Along with Ann Budd's first book. I was reading the sweater book last night!)

I'm not in a book club or anything, and I don't follow the whole Oprah thing, but I am reading as many great books as I can, and last year The Good Earth was one of them. Today, I can still remember the poor woman in her 9th month of pregnancy, working the fields right up until the moment of birth, where she would return to the house, do it as quickly and efficiently as possible, alone, not making any noise, and being so private about it, she wouldn't even admit what she was doing to her husband.
Whoa.
I also read Anna Karenina a while ago, and yes, you're in for more of what you're already hinting on...

You just got two of my favorite knitting books. The only other one I use all the time is Weekend Knitting.

Just wanted to leave a comment and say how much I am enjoying your blog. I love the mix of books and knitting. (I am still working out a method for reading paperbacks and knitting at the same time. Do you have one?)

I forgot to mention the song stuck in my head this week: "Citronella Girl". Please to tell Rob. ;) And I know that Mike's had it stuck in his head, too.
