BooooKish

Posted by Bookish Wendy on Jun 28 2005 | General

Way back in April I decided to knit up Alison’s Nothin’ But a T-shirt from MagKnits. My orginal idea was to knit the word “knitfomaniac” onto it. Then I had a far better idea:

Which font should I use? Leave your top three choices (ranked from 1 - 3) in the comments. Voting at the Bookish Girl is fair and fun. You may win something. You may not. Your motivation should be bloggy love, not prizes. (Teeheee, have you all ever seen me try to compete for one of these? Shameless.)

  2. Hey - what’s this? Three days in a row!!! I’m so HAPPY!

Anyway - back to bizness. I say:

    1. C (for Cara!)
    2. H
    3. F

Of course, now that I’ve looked at it so many times all I see is BOO - KISH. Like I’m kissing a ghost. Weird.

  3. 1. F
    2. H
    3. E

    :o)

  4. Oooo, cute, cute! I vote E, F, B, in that order. Curious what you’ll select!

    28 Jun 2005 at 7:10 pm

  5. I think you should chart them out, and then see which comes out the best. For example, it’s going to be really hard to get the star to turn out in C. It’s very cute, though; maybe you could embroider it…in sparkly thread…how do you feel about embroidery? or sparkly thread?

    28 Jun 2005 at 7:13 pm

  6. I like F and H, but I agree that you should chart that all out first and see which looks best when you finally get to it.

    28 Jun 2005 at 7:16 pm

  7. C! i’m loving that star - so retro looking, very fun. and my second choice would have to be B, all curly and sassy, i’m digging the h in particular.

boo kish! ha, kissing a ghost, too funny ;)

    28 Jun 2005 at 7:30 pm

  8. Ditto on F and H. I liked A a lot at first, but if you look at it too long, you start to think the K should be a B instead…

    28 Jun 2005 at 7:33 pm

  9. C, B, H, although I like them all.

Very cute idea! I vote for E, G and C. I can’t wait to see what you decide and how it looks when completed!

    28 Jun 2005 at 8:07 pm

  12. I like A, C & G

    28 Jun 2005 at 8:23 pm

  13. Laura A.

    1- E
    2- G
    3- H

I think the clean lines are going to be jazzed up by the shape of the knit stiches/intarsia.

    Great idea.

    28 Jun 2005 at 8:24 pm

  14. C, B, G

I love the person who suggested embroidering with sparkly thread!

    28 Jun 2005 at 8:28 pm

  15. I like F, followed by B. No third, I’m afraid…

    28 Jun 2005 at 8:45 pm

  16. I like A. How cute it will be.
    And here’s some love. :)

it was great to see you last saturday!

    28 Jun 2005 at 9:32 pm

  18. 1. A
    2. F
    3. H

But really I like them all. Whichever one you choose, it will look great!

    28 Jun 2005 at 9:39 pm

  19. F
    C
    B

I like A, but I can see that the letters might be too smooshed together to be legible if they’re knitted. Possible. Have fun!

    1. A

  22. I vote for C - can I vote for C three times? If not, I like E & H, too.

    28 Jun 2005 at 11:42 pm

  23. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!

    Ok:
    1. F
    2. H
    3. E

But obviously, I think F far exceeds the others. :)
Great idea for your tee, btw!

    28 Jun 2005 at 11:45 pm

  24. H
    B
    F

    28 Jun 2005 at 11:53 pm

  25. H…F…C are my choices, but I really like them all.

    29 Jun 2005 at 12:16 am

  26. 1. h
    2. f
    3. b

i like the retro feel to them. and, i only picked f and b because you said to rank top three :) i really just wanted to say h.

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:12 am

  27. C all the way! I’d look for a starry sequin for the little star! If I have to pick two other choices, then B and E.

    I’ve only my top two:

    First “C”, and then “A”.

    I’m curious!

  31. I like c, but to be pratcial, a is nice too.

    29 Jun 2005 at 8:47 am

  32. 1. C–I love the star!
    2. B
    3. A

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:03 am

  33. Jeepers - there “might” be a prize…love the lure of a prize!

    So the thoughts:

I love C - the little star just drew me in, but the thought of knitting the star scares the bejeebus out of me.

Second choice (because it is my choice right?) is A - I like the way the letters run together, the thought of knitting the letters running together also scares the bejeebus out of me.

Third choice H - it would look good on a t-shirt and the thought of knitting it doesn’t scare me as much.

Can’t wait to see the finished product!

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:06 am

  34. H, F, and C (either with the star or just a dot). Can’t wait to see — very cute!!

    2 - H
    3 - E

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:18 am

  37. 1 - C
    2 - A
    3 - H

I do like C the best, but isn’t that star going to be hard to knit? Beth had a good idea…either way, you can’t go wrong!

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:21 am

  38. 1.) C
    2.) B
    3.) H

    The star sold me.

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:25 am

  39. 1. H
    2. F
    3. E

Love the playfulness of all of them BUT….as everyone asks, how are you going to chart that playfulness into the total squareness of the knitting chart? I cannot wait to see you genius!

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:27 am

  40. A, F, H

I like how the “OO” in F and H look like glasses ;-)

    29 Jun 2005 at 9:37 am

  41. D H F

    K

    29 Jun 2005 at 10:12 am

  42. C
    F
    G

And i think the star on C could be super cute as an ‘embellishment’…

    29 Jun 2005 at 10:54 am

  43. 1. C
    2. H
    F. F

The star got me. I’m a sucker for pimped font, what can I say? Hey, if you still have the dog mange yarn, you can do it in that. Then people can pet you, if they don’t mind mangey boobs.

    29 Jun 2005 at 10:56 am

  44. I like F, H and C, in that order. This is my first post here and just want to say I enjoy reading your blog.

    29 Jun 2005 at 11:03 am

  45. H. Or A.

Will be very, very cute whatever you choose.

    29 Jun 2005 at 11:04 am

  46. 1. C
    2. F
    3. G

Truthfully, I really love A, but am leery of voting for something that will look like BOOBISH plastered across your, well, your boobs. I wouldn’t want to ruin my street cred as a raging feminist…what? Why are you laughing?

    29 Jun 2005 at 11:35 am

  47. 1. C
    2. B
    3. A

But I am sure whichever you choose, it is sure to stand out and be beautiful. :)

    29 Jun 2005 at 11:40 am

  48. F, H, A–in that order. I think they’re all cute though!

    29 Jun 2005 at 11:57 am

  49. Definitely F :-)

    29 Jun 2005 at 12:12 pm

  50. A and C seem a bit overdone lately (and in A I keep missing the “I” so it looks like BOOKSH) unless you REALLLLY dig the star… But I agree with Beth about the embroidery–or maybe an applique?

I really dig the retro look of B… but only if you can get the curly serifs to show up. If they don’t chart well… go with D - classic for a reason :)

    29 Jun 2005 at 12:14 pm

  51. C, H, G for me

    29 Jun 2005 at 12:18 pm

  52. knitfomaniac! I LOVE THAT! But Bookish is very cool, too. You might want to chart them out and see what fits best. But I like C.

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:05 pm

  53. I like “D” but think Beth is right… chart ‘em out and see what fits…

Soooooooo sorry to leave you feeling stood up while I was at BMFA… I forgot about everybody except DH and DD…. Sooooooo sorry. What else can I say, except I’ll be back visiting DD (who now lives in North End!!!) and/or DH’s company which is on the border of Reading/Woburn. Please forgive me. PS: would prefer hug to KITA!

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:18 pm

  54. F, H, C.

But the more I look at the word “bookish” the stranger it looks. :)

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:27 pm

  55. i vote for B, G and H in that order….

    what a cute idea!

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:41 pm

  56. Holy cow, those are cool!

    29 Jun 2005 at 1:45 pm

  57. B

    A

    This will be very cute.

    29 Jun 2005 at 4:17 pm

    29 Jun 2005 at 5:50 pm

  59. 1. B
    2. H
    3. A

I can’t wait to see how you do this! I love the idea though! Hmmmmmm, could I copy…….

    30 Jun 2005 at 1:16 pm

  62. I’d go for:

    1. E
    2. C
    3. G

    30 Jun 2005 at 9:01 pm

  63. 1. G
    2. F
    3. E

    30 Jun 2005 at 11:32 pm

  64. C,H,F although C is my favorite. I think you should go for it and do the star!
