The Bookish Girl

I would have gotten away with it to if it wasn’t for that dang knitting.

I did it. I figured out one thing that I do not like about knitting.

Are you sitting down?

Ready?

It makes the day go by too fast.

Seriously.

I spent yesterday knitting away and in the blink of an eye – gone. One of my favorite days of the year. Poof.

Blech.

Now, in many cases this is a blessing.

However, Thanksgiving?

When it’s cold and rainy and shitty out and you’re warm and snuggly inside with your honey and baby in your tummy and animals around you while you Tivo through the crappy Pop singers during the parade to the parts that are really fun?

Not so much a blessing.

I know! I desperately need a time bender… a way to make those unbearably slow hours speed up and a way to slow down the special ones.

Promise you will let me know if you figure out how to do that first?

I heard on NPR this morning that if you move closer to the center of the earth (say… downstairs…) that time moves slower for you than for someone upstairs.

I have tons of plans for the 1/billionth of a second I’m going to save today by staying in the basement all day. Maybe I’ll knit something really special… or take up language study.

It’s too bad we can’t harness the time-bending powers of pulsars for those truly wonderful days.

As a wise old frog once said, “Time’s fun when you’re having flies.” Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

That’s the way this whole weekend feels to me…gone in a puff. Not good but still wonderful when you think back on it.
