Mother = Multitasker
Motherhood has brought my ability to multitask to a whole new level. I just blew dry my hair while pooping. Man, do I have mad skills or what?
The little hat has been completed. I had to add some length as it was a bit small and kept popping off her head. The power of a knitter - fixing a project to suit your needs. You rarely have this kind of control over any part of your life. Ideally I would like to get this kind of thing right from the onset. However, in this case, adding ribbing was easy and just as cute (I would argue even cuter). I just picked up stitches along the edge and knit a 2×2 rib down from there. I increased about 5 stitches because I felt like the hat was a bit tight and I wanted baby to wear it for more than a week. When attempting this kind of modification the only thing you have to be aware of is the number of stitches you pick up, they should be a multiple of four.
Here is a photo of Sophia wearing her new hat while attending her first rock gig. She and her mama are an explosion of badly coordinated clothing. What can I say? It’s a miracle we even make it out of the house let alone make it out color coordinated. (Elisa avert your eyes, this will offend your sensibilities.)
(Mama’s sweater by me, Sophia’s sweater by Benedetta (Thanks Ben!), hat by me, sock in progress in the bag by me.)

No, no, no - I think Sophia simply coordinates with your oufit, completing it perfectly! Matching is out, at least according to Stacy and Clinton

With that much cuteness, who needs color coordination?

I’m just giggling because you and Sophia have EXACTLY the same look on your faces. Teeheehee.

You rock on, mama! I never ever get my kids hats right on the first try, they always end custom fit as you have done. Always knit kid-hats top down is the life lesson there.

You’re both adorable.

YOU look great! Motherhood becomes you.

Ha! Look at those fat little baby cheeks! So cute.

Love that hat! But then, I love all baby hats (could be why my daughter has a few more than is strictly necessary). Keep up the multi-tasking. Have you been able to knit while nursing?!

Hey — I don’t know if I’ve congratulated you yet on that gorgeou little human that you manufactured??? If not, CONGRATS!!! She a cutie-and-a-half.
I’ve managed to do a great many things while pooping. I breastfed on the toilet more than once. A mommy’s gotta do what a mommy’s gotta do. But now that Delma can sit up on her own, I have reclaimed ownership of my arms, and I can just plop her down on the floor with a toy or a cat. That kid seriously spends a LOT of time sitting on our bathroom floor, since Josh and I both get ready for work at the same time in the morning, etc… I have to just laugh sometimes when I look down and see her playing on the bathroom floor like it’s a perfectly normal place for a baby to hang out.

OMG. Bwahhahahahahahaa…I remember those days…pooping and blow drying or even painting my toes or writing out bills. OK, TMI. It gets easier. Promise.
I love the no matchy. Character.

you crack me up, wendy. way to be productive.
the hat turned out great.

The coordination is evident in both of you wearing precious handknits. I hope dad was sporting something knit, too, but not too bad if it is just a grrlygrrl thing.

Hey, as far as I’m concerned, during the first six months of a baby’s life, if everyone has eaten at least once in the past 24 hours, and there is no actual poop anywhere one might sit in it, you are ahead of the game. Ask me my thoughts about sleep-deprivation. Go ahead…ask.

Isn’t it also amazing that once you enter motherhood, all of a sudden poop becomes a standard topic of conversation? Is swear, I can’t get away from it.

Speaking of multitasking, have you figured out how to knit while nursing? I’m going to invent the first knitter’s babysling, I swear! Sophia looks adorable in her handknits!

What about those fabulous musicians?

How long, one has to wonder, before she can hold the lighter for you at the show?

Moms, especially of babies and toddlers, are officially excused from all fashion directives until their children are able to feed, bathe, and dress themselves. It’s written somewhere.
And babies and moms wearing hand-knits? Always in style.

I just lauhed out loud. Like, LOUD loud. My neighbors probably think Im crazy.
If there’s a better pair of matching mommy-and-daughter — with matching expressions, no less — I haven’t found it.

Cuteness and funny all in the same post. Multi-tasking.

Hey, who says mama and baby are supposed to match??? I think that’s kind of creepy. I just got a Hanna Andersson (I think that’s the brand) catalog that sells matching family apparel. I always wondered where people bought that stuff. Now I know.

Mommy and baby cuteness is always well coordinated! Awwwww.
21 Mar 2007 at 8:21 am
Whew! Now that is multitasking.
Look at Sophia - She looks just like you!

I love this picture- too cute!
It is like a ‘find the hidden knits’ puzzle from Higlights.
22 Mar 2007 at 9:58 pm
How cute is that? I love the peering look from Sophia, as if to say, “Check out my mad knits! I am rocking out HARDCORE!”
Or, conversely, “Whu-?”
