What she said ~ 2007-07-27
Wow. I never intended to take a month break! I suppose life has been a bit hectic and generally getting in the way of all things blog worthy. A numbered list to explain what I’ve been up to:
Reason Number 1 reason why I haven’t blogged: Â Bloggy existential crisis.
We all have them. Why do I write? Do I still want to write? Ya-da-Ya-da. Mine was spurred by some comments left on an old post of mine (I will not link in an effort to let sleeping dogs lie). I do not really want to go in to it, I only mention it to highlight how much it took me by surprise. I have had very little negative feedback here and have always waved the flags of honesty and candor. I always appreciate the same in my commenters.  It, frankly, kicked my ass to think that people would target me in a personal way for an opinion that I posted.  This has all been summarized by others better than me so I’ll just refer you to my girls Cara and Stephanie, and add, “Yah, what she said you big meanies.”
After this they’re in no particular order:
My sister, Sophia, and I exploring a part of our fair city
If this isn’t a big duh, than I don’t know what is. I am working here full time (telecommuting for the old job, major suckers) and still trying to get out and see stuff! and do things! and not be stuck in the freaking house all the time! I tried a new knit group and may have found a new book club. We’ll see how it all pans out. Meeting people sucks and I am a big woosey about it all. I miss my Boston Girls who are having a baby (Kellee), getting cool jobs (Jackie), moving across country (Elisa), buying houses (Melanie), sewing cute things for my kid (Debbie “given new meaning to the name Stitchy” McYarnpants), taking kick ass vacation (Maryse). I miss our Boston Friends and babies and I miss our house and I miss the city. All of this makes me sad and who wants to read a downer blog post?
Blogging time decrease – about 75%
Reason Number 3 why I haven’t touched ye old blog:
I know it’s the same old sad story, that you are all likely tired of. Mine is a bit different in that I haven’t actually entered any stash (well hardly any) or any projects (just a few).  I was one of the first beta-testers and have signed up to be a Sooper Editor. What little time I have to spend on Ravelry I like to spend cleaning up the pattern database. Call me an obsessive organizing freak. It’s what I am and I like it.
Reason Number 4 why I can’t write:
Sigh, I just finished last night.
Reason Number 5 why the blog has gathered dust:
I am in love.
She’ll be 6 months next week.
All of these reason are still going to be here. But, I think I need to make some time for this. I read and read all of you everyday (No time to comment!) and I write in my head. It is my goal to sit and write more frequently.

Sophia’s personality is really showing through! We’ve missed you but with your life so full of changes it’s understandable that you took a break.

I totally get why you are in love — what an intriguing child! “Intriguing” as in, I just want to hang out with her and see what she does. That’s how I felt about my oldest when he was that age, too.

I can’t believe Sophia is almost 6 months old. (And seems impossible that she can become more and more beautiful, but she is!

All good reasons; escpecially the last one. She is so GORGEOUS!!!!!
I do hope you are able to find some time to blog once in a while, though. I miss your posts.

Good to hear from you! Just when I was beginning to think that Ravelry stole another good one away….
Sorry you had some meanness in your life. Never a fun thing. Tell them I said to FUCK OFF and leave you alone. Or I’m going to KICK SOME ASS. You know I can do it. All the shit I’m mainlining is making me like the HULK with ATTITUDE.

PS – Sophia is the cutest thing ever and is making me cry buckets. Stop!

Sophia is just adorable! This is such a great age, eh? It’s funny – I was just telling Greg that not only am I in love with Owen, but I feel like I have a new friend, a dude I genuinely like hanging out with. I ended up with this sharp, funny little guy who suits me perfectly!
I’ve been sucked into Ravelry and lost all of last weekend to HP.
Wish you were here…

who said mean things to you? fucker.
Comment - July 27, 2007 : 1:17 pm
It’s funny how one or two mean voices can overpower all the bloggy goodness. I know exactly how that can be.
Sophia is such a cute lil’ chicken! Tres sweet.

Good to hear from you! Sophia is starting to look like a big little girl, what a face she has on her.
We miss you here in Boston. I wish the girls could have been able to spend more time together, but live moves on and that’s a good thing.

Sometimes there are more important things in life. You beautiful babe is definately one of those things!
Everyone needs a bloggy break now and then!
Comment - July 27, 2007 : 1:22 pm
You are missed! And Sophia is beautiful. Love the photos!
Comment - July 27, 2007 : 1:33 pm
a) I can see why you’re in love- she’s so cute!!!
b) I was attacked once by a prominent blogger, who used ME as an example of a mom inviting predators to prey on my daughter, as I posted a photo of her *in footie jammies* on my blog. Said woman wrote an article about internet predators on the popular Blogher site, and trashed me, and linked to me. That was the most un-fun blogging time of my life. There are some crazies out there in blog land- don’t let em spoil it for you…

One look at Sophie’s sweet face and I don’t think anyone could be surprised.
Book 7 knocked me on my butt. I was unsure of what to do with myself for days. Such a good read!

Where your ears burning on Wednesday? Judy S-H and I were wondering how you were doing.
Mean people suck. Sophie is adorable. Her expression in the first pic is priceless. Glad to see that you are starting her early on the good stuff.

I love the lady bug shoes!
I, too, have noticed a particular mindset is needed for good blogging (and I’m not willing to do bad blogging). You put it much more eloquently than I could. Thanks.

Yay, you posted!! And you gave us baby photos! Who needs more than that? Not every post has to be brilliant (witness my blog, lol) but it’s wonderful when you do.

Wen – Great to see you back. Now more than ever.
If you’re getting ad hominem attacks then you have truly entered the blogosphere and justified your server space. The great thing about being ambushed is the chance to think as they might think, understand something other people’s “normal”, because after all, we’re mostly talking to people who agree with us.
Thanks for the assists in the runup to our wedding. You’re bricks! J&L

I wonder what it is about Boston. We moved from there last year, and I still miss it. I’m sorry about all the bad stuff, but welcome back! And really, who couldn’t fall in love with such a beautiful face?

Welcome (back) to Rochester, Wendy! Hope to see you at another Chicks meeting soon! And thanks for starting the Rochester group on Ravelry. See you around the internets, even if I don’t see you in real life.

I was just thinking about you. I love summer with babies, all those teeny little clothes that show off their peachy roundness, their toes all hanging out.
Although you have been understandably distracted, I hear something in your tone that sounds a little more relaxed and contented. And screw the nay-sayers. Honestly, you can’t agree with all of the people all of the time, I usually just don’t comment then.
Enjoy the rest of summer!

Glad you’re still around and about! Sophia is utterly gorgeous…I’m not surprised that you’re blogging less. If she were mine, I suspect I’d be spending all my time playing with her, encouraging her to smile lots, and looking after her.

And that dog photo at the end is awesome. Glad to see you’re wearing your beantown colors while you’re out and about.
