Grounds for Divorce?

Kai Sweater after Husband accidently felted it in the wash.
I knit this for Sophia when she was still in the womb. She wore it a ton. It was the perfect size, the perfect weight, the perfect fit. Poor husband didn’t mean to do it. My mother cleaned Sophia’s room and picked up all the cloths on the floor. Unfortunately she didn’t notice the sweater and it made its way to the hamper where it was promptly washed by the husband. We’re all a bit heartbroken.
Sigh. I’m sure it will find another life as a sweater for Sophia’s dolls, bears, and other imaginary friends.

Oy! Glad you see the silver lining in it all. Seeing the chap stick for scale made me do a double-take. I’m so sorry.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Oh that hurts.
Ha, I love how Kate’s comment runs into the margins. Major, epic bummer man. I remember when you knit that, it’s so pristine and simple and gorgeous, it may have been the project that pushed me over the edge to but that book. I have one in progress, but hibernating. In cotton. Well, it’ll be easier to put in her scrapbook now.
Soooo, since it has to be said when such things happen…guess the mom and the DH are not allowed to help anymore, eh? Hardy har. I washed a blistex today after just dumping a hamperload in. It’s nothing like the same thing and I feel lucky. Such a pretty sweater.
That sucks. Dale felted a pair of handknit socks once. Our marriage survived. Just saying.
Well - perhaps not the drastic divorce but certainly a TON OF GUILT YARN!!! Hey - why not stuff the sweater and sew the openings closed. Then Sophia will have a hug me pillow to cherish!!
Some things are not forever, like baby sweaters, but marriages can survive them. I’m still married, and I lost my engagement ring. Gulp.
I love Sue’s idea of making it into a squishy pillow for Sophia. If it didn’t take me forever to make a sweater, I might make one to stuff in the first place. It would be cute (and have arms!).
Oh Wendy, that’s a real kick in the pants. Ooof.
GAAAAAH! But now he must replace the yarn…and then some!
Certainly not grounds for divorce, but rather a means to enjoy the sweater for years to come (not to mention, you have a neat story later on). Hope all is well! Sophia is one little cutie
Oh Rob. Oh Wendy! I remember you knitting on that sweater! I hope she had already grown out of it (or was about to) and that now it’s a cute sweater for a favorite doll or teddy bear. Oh.
Oh.My.GOD. I know he didn’t mean it, but …. oh.My.GOD!!!
I know that it wasn’t intensional, it’s knitslaughter at best, but still …. I’m sorry.
Maybe make a littler baby to put in the littler sweater?
Ha! I couldn’t tell what the sweater was laying on in the first photo, so I thought it was an adult sweater. That would be some impressive felting!
My condolences, but as you said, the sweater can find new life on a doll or bear.
Aw - that’s stinks…. there’s upsides all over the place tho. She did get to wear it a bunch, and it’ll will get a new life, and it wouldn’t have fit her forever anyway
And I bet you can get some guilt yarn
