This is a fantastic book. The interaction/relationship between the mute boy Simon and the artist Kerwin is wonderfully portrayed and Joe is a very interesting character. Keri Hulme is a fantastic writer.

I started that book last winter after coming across a reference to it somewhere, probably in a knitblog, since that is where I get a lot of my "what to request next from the library" ideas. It was wonderfully written and a fascinating book, but it was the depths of tax season (I'm a CPA) and was way too demanding for what was left of my brain at the end of the day.

Must request it again.

You've just given me another book to add to my to-do list. I love hearing about new books. Reading makes the train ride go by faster.

OMG, I loved the Bone People so much that when I first read it, I had a bunch of boring temp jobs and I would type out whole pages of text, just so I could read it again and again. I'll be re-reading this summer.

The Bone People is my all-time favorite novel. I re-read it every couple of years and it never fails to pack a wallop. I love that the characters are so distinctly drawn that labels on dialog or thought (she said, he thought, etc) are rarely necessary.
Can't wait to go read that thread on Ravelry!
