Sophia swears up and down that she did not eat any strawberries.  Just picked ‘em.

Photographic evidence says otherwise.

Dribble much?

They were sooo juicy.

She would suck all the juice out and throw the leftovers back in to the basket.

Hands stained red - a sure sign of a good time.

Even with her help we managed to pick 16 lbs of strawberries.  What the heck were we thinking?  We are headed out of town on Tuesday.  So I do not really have time to do much with them. Anyone wanna come eat some strawberries?

  1. 16 pounds? Wow!

(PS — I like the strawberry-dress-while-strawberry-picking look she’s got going.)

  2. Throw ‘em in the blender and freeze the results. It will make yummy ice cream or pancake topping.

  3. Strawberry freezer jam made with the low sugar pectin. Easy to make, quick, and the jam works on toast, as a topping, in plain yogurt, all sorts of things!

  4. I love that Sophia is dressed appropriately for the task! Freeze those strawberries, baby!

  5. My Grandma used to send us cousins out to pick raspberries from her backyard and we’d come back with a big bowl of 3 berries. 1 for the bowl, 1, 2, 3 for each of us!

  6. Strawberry ice cream can be pretty easily made and strawberries with basalmic vinegar are delicious.

Growing up, my brother and I would take blueberries and chopped strawberries with a tablespoon of sugar and some milk and eat them for breakfast. Even with the extraneous sugar it was a lot healthier than Captain Crunch or whatever the cool kids were eating.
