The Bookish Girl

Help me Decorate!

So, remember this picture?

My Office

This are different now – mostly in the way my desk and shelves are organized.

My plan has been to put a fabric covered bulletin board up to the right of my monitor, under the shelving.  I have had the cork board for months and just got around to picking out some fabric ideas.

Help!

Which do you like?  Any other suggestions?  My only requirements are the following:  the design shouldn’t be too symmetrical.  I’ll never get it to hang straight and it will drive me bonkers for the rest of my life.  It also cannot be too goofy or feminine.  While I am both of these I try to play them down at work.  I work in a male dominated field and am, by far, the youngest person at my level of responsibility in my department.

Here is what I came up with on a first pass:

Favorites?  Other suggestions?!

some color, not too dark or too heavy, not too girly, not too twee
    and it’s neat pattern.

I would say either Espresso Ironwork or Mint Eiffel (if you want more color).

I like Espresso Ironwork and Mint Eiffel as well, and I think they best fulfill the idea of color without too much girliness.

I like the zen blossoms, if black isn’t too dark for you.

Forest Clematis–a little color is a good thing, especially with the darkness of winter coming. Also, there will only be a little of the pattern showing once you get all the papers and stickies covering it.

Given your requirements for non-girly, non-goofy, I’d say Mint Eiffel is best.

    I like this one: http://www.shopcraftyplanet.com/store/product.php?productid=130031&cat=5&page=1

It’s just the right amount of crazy, I think. Plus, once you get all the business stuff on there, only you will be able to see the fun.

Forest Clematis is just lovely. Although I’ve noticed at this point nearly everyone has said something different, so good luck….

I like them all, except the black one which I like a lot but think it’s too dark to stick stuff onto.

Get the one you like the best because it will be mostly covered, and it’s not like you’re getting a ruffled skirt for your desk or anything. (Which would be cool.)

I like the Black Zen Blossoms. It’s prim enough for an office,
white/pastel Post-Its will show up against it, and the flowers
    are pretty.

i vote for kalidescope or clematis. the others seem like they’d be really busy if they were big. i like the very graphic ones (espresso & eiffel) but they look less grown up to me.

I like Mint Eiffel and Espresso Ironwork! I agree with Juno on the reasons why… I’m assuming that you’ll be affixing notes and photos to it, since you’re covering cork, and those (especially the photos) can be your color pop! And I think I’m leaning more toward “espresso” — very neutral but very FUN!!
