The Bookish Girl

It’s beginning to look a lot like…

Here we are the week of Christmas and I am at work.  Bah Humbug.  I love Christmas and I miss being a student – I want three weeks off!!!

As a consolation prize I am going to spend some time blogging this week during my down times.  Cool?  I thought so.

Yah, so – I’m preggars.  In my third trimester and feeling pretty good.  I am having issues with anemia and lightheadedness, as I did with Miss S, which sucks.  But – in the grand scheme of things it is small beans.  While I am not in love with being pregnant I am enjoying the idea of having another little monster in my life.  Sophia has been such a blast this past year and I am REALLY excited to spend Christmas with her.  I love this time of year and it is even more fun looking at it through her eyes.

We have found out the sex of the baby.  We had our ultrasound on Halloween.  It was touch-and-go there for a minute as the little rascel had its legs crossed.  We were looking at him from the bottom up and all we could see where little indian legs with feet covering the important bits.  Modesty in an in utero baby is way over rated.  Fortunately our tech was VERY patient and she offered to leave for a few minutes to let me walk around.  I did and we had success almost right away.  In fact – the baby had decided to flash us every chance it got!  My mom was there with Rob and I, which was great.  Soon after the getting the machine fired up, the picture became clear and there was little denying what was there.

(You’re looking up here, the baby is sitting on his legs.  Just in case you can’t quite see it, the tech was nice enough to label it.)

Now, I know this is a bit of an invasion of the poor little monster’s privacy.  However, I knew you all could appreciate the fun here – and the fact that our ultrasound tech labeled it – that really has kept my giggling for weeks.

Oh, and a boy?!  Holy shit.  I thought I had it all figured out and here we go again.  Oy.

    Ha! When I had my ultrasound, she told me it was a boy, and I said “no way!” because I was just sure that we were having a girl. So, she proceeded to take as many crotch shots as possible and label each one. Cracked me up because there were only two pictures suitable for showing around. Anyway, boys are a whole new ball game, but SO much fun! If you need any boy mom insight along the way, let me know…I’m sure you have other boy moms in your life, but sometimes you need to ask an “outsider”. I read a really good book of stories of moms of boys when I was pregnant, I’ll try to remember the name and let you know. At any rate, Congratulations!!!

    Oh congratulations! Boys are the *best*. And I think it’s great for a little boy to have an older sister; gives them a bit of respect for the “softer” sex. Nothing like getting beat up by a girl for the first 8-10 years of your life to mold your perspective of gender roles! ;)

    I love having a boy, and how fun that you will have one of each!

    I had a girl first and then a boy, and the strangest part was learning to change diapers and clean a boy’s bottom vs a girl’s. Infant boys have incredible aim, so _always_ keep that penis covered–I’ve never met a mom who hasn’t worn pee (or gotten shot in the mouth) at least once! Congrats again on the baby–and best wishes for a safe, healthy, *boring* delivery and a long life for all of you.

    Boys are great – there is something special about a little boy who loves his mama! I’m excited for this time of year with Owen, too – it’s such a great age for all of the wonder and excitement of the holidays. Enjoy!

    Heh. We have almost exactly the same ultrasound of Eldest. I’m planning to blow it up and display it at his wedding reception. That, or show it to his prom date. I haven’t decided yet.

    Let me assure you that all mothers of boys have the very same picture of their itty bitty fetal weiners.

    Wow, now that picture will be so much better to show his prom date than baby bath tub pictures!

    Yeah for a boy. Boys love their mamas (and girls love to fight with their mamas!).

    Merry/Happy/Yeah!

    Our tech labeled our ultrasound as well, which made me giggle. We have some pretty graphic shots of her that I won’t be showing to a prom date (don’t want to give him any ideas!) Congrats on a boy!

    Hee hee. Of course that photo labeling made me giggle too! Boy, girl, whatever. You’ll do great on round 2, no matter what gender! (Although, with that photo, I don’t think there’s a lot of room for doubt.)

    Bravo! Love the image and label. Makes me think my kids’ in utero photos were taken before they knew how to focus! (Well it was 30 years ago!). I loved having one of each… and I think they benefited from being less easy to “compare.”
    Hope you feel 100% soon.

    Great post. I really love the manner whereby you compressed the topic down in to segments
    as it becomes simple to fully grasp. Aside from that it honestly is nice to learn. Continue the impressive work and always keep with the web-site.

    Guide de Tourisme Marrakech

    Marrakech demeure la principale destination touristique du Maroc, pour son patrimoine architectural hors du commun et son ambiance tout à fait particulière. Que l’on parte par ses propres moyens, à l’aide d’un vol low cost ou par l’intermédiaire d’un séjour tout compris, Marrakech est très facilement accessible pour des vacances de formats variés, que ce soit pour quelques jours à visiter la ville ou plusieurs semaines à parcourir le Maroc.
    tourist infos est le Guide Touristique du Maroc , le site présente des informations utiles et pratiques pour organiser le voyage au marrakech: hébergement, restauration, transport, découverte, loisirs, cuisine, réservations,sport…

    La médina de Marrakech, l’une des plus belles et des plus passionnantes qui soit, retient tout particulièrement l’attention durant le séjour : la place Djema el Fna, véritable symbole de la ville, rassemble une activité fébrile, où le traditionnel et le folklorique ont tendance à se rejoindre. Tout autour, cerclée de ses remparts, s’étend la médina, véritable labyrinthe où l’on se fera un plaisir de se perdre. | Plusieurs monuments remarquables, tels la mosquée de la Koutoubia, la médersa Ben Youssef ou le palais de la Bahia, | témoignent de la dimension historique de Marrakech. Les souks, organisés par quartiers et par métiers, sont une expérience à part entière, et l’on s’essaiera au marchandage tout en évitant les immanquables attrapes-touristes… |
    Hébergements emblématiques à Marrakech, les riads sont nombreux à l’intérieur de la médina : certaines adresses offrent un cadre exceptionnel et un accueil de grande qualité, d’autres moins, il s’agit de bien se renseigner avant de choisir… | destination très touristique, on sera souvent bien inspiré de réserver en avance. | Autrement, les grands complexes hôteliers de la Palmeraie, à la fois modernes et bien équipés en loisirs, mais manquant souvent de charme, restent une solution pratique. Même si les hôtels de Marrakech demeurent relativement bon marché dans l’ensemble, les plus petits budgets se tourneront vers l’auberge de jeunesse. }

    Le Maroc, un nom qui évoque les palais chérifiens entourés de somptueux jardins, les souks desquels s’échappe l’odeur mystérieuse des épices, la fantasia et ses rites éclatants. |
    Mais il serait dommage d’en rester à ce décor de théâtre haut en couleurs. L’important au Maroc, c’est ce qui se passe en coulisses. Ainsi, dans une médina, c’est en quittant les rues les plus larges que l’on s’immergera dans la vie populaire du Maroc, | puis en osant quitter les ruelles pour accéder à de sombres impasses que l’on trouvera les plus belles portes de la ville, celles derrière lesquelles s’épanouissent les plus luxueux palais… }
